The gîtes "U Mulinu" and "Forruli" of Tasso (South Corsica) belong to the same comfortable house (renovated in 2002) and are opened the whole year.

Family Leoni-Salinesi, of the village had bequeathed this piece of land to the municipality. The small house was built to shelter a public good: one of the two parts served slaughterhouse, other washing place.

Become ruin, abandoned for many years, local authorities were willing to sel lit to us; something could again be born. We had no idea of his fate. We had horses: to do stables? Maybe something better to do?

We talked about the fame of the the chestnuts  flour in the villag. The two mills had ceased their activity over several decades; therefore, local producers were had no more transformation tool. People were forced to carry their harvest to the closest mill, remote for almost an hour by car, forcing them to leave their bags of chestnuts to return there, often several days later, retrieve their flour. Loss of time, constraints, only disadvantages! 

 

Of this fact, we said: "And why do we not do a mill"?

In spite of the total ignorance of the functioning of a mill, wedidn’t get backward. We undertake research to find old wheels and adequate electric mechanism.
Our will and our perseverance give us reason. The equipment is found!
Need to install it and make adjustments are needed: engine power for very heavy granite wheels, appropriate belts, gear ratios, towers-minute: everything was checked!
As it could be at "Ferrari"!

Yes, everything is in place, it rotates, but now, you should know manage "the machine"! We are looking for training and councils of elders. It is often difficult to obtain any information!  Fortunately, this was not the case everywhere. Foundations are saved, and with the help of Didier, from who we bought this material, we are ready to welcome the first chestnuts!

That it was difficult! Fear in  stomach, we have pressed the button which released the engine. Afraid, we were on the lookout for the slightest noise; every moment, we restrict the softness and refinement of this talc had regular waves in the trunk, releasing a pleasant odour.

But our apprehension was over settings because we did not want to run the risk of spoil our friends work. And it was necessary to demonstrate that we were able, we knew! 

 

The mill starts to sing! Earned bet!  And give the village its pride, keep its notoriety.

After a few seasons operating, we wanted diversify our business. 

 

The meeting, the pleasure of the Exchange are moments that we appreciate. Let’s welcoming visitors from all horizons.

The decision is taken: we create Gîtes!
Administrative procedures completed work starts and makes it the current result. 

 

The House is in granite, whose stones seem "sewn", experienced masters work. At dusk, its façade colorizes the rock from the Sunl... Come in … A staircase and then different levels that, no doubt, demonstrated a genuine mimesis with our island, respect the spirit of the premises was a priority. If indeed, comfort and modernity exist, the past, legitimately, is has not been blanked: beams emerging, furniture to the ancestral know-how, stone - raw or worked - mentoring, guiding, space...

Be sure that every detail reflects the passion of the Corsican people.
