Culture and architecture: history of Corsica, churches Baroque, medieval, bridges, perched villages, music, legends...

Enthusiasts of prehistory, more than sixty megalithic sites regarding only the Taravu Valley (Sollacaro, Olmeto, Serra-di-Ferro, Petreto-Bicchisano Pila-Canale, MOCA-Croce, Zigliara, etc.), all different, waiting patiently - they have the habit - your visit.

Corsica is the first Mediterranean site; several thousands (!) of prehistoric sites there have already been identified or are in process of being.
Originally, the architecture of the homes is only because of the need to: need to protect, admittedly, weather but, also, of the aggressor still pervasive.
These are buildings, integration in a tormented terrain, transhumance and defence against any intrusion.
Is that later, starting in the 15th century, that appear first notable homes.
The towers, were usually built on top of villages and were used to prevent and protect nearby communities.

If is still, unfortunately, very few remnants of the medieval churches of the Taravo Valley, there are today still tangible evidence of baroque religious heritage certainly brought by the Franciscans monks who had three convents in the region (60 in the island!); this is also the opportunity to discover the art of these time become old fresquistes perfection.

In this regard, you should go you Guitera (Vutera), Giovicacce (Ghjuvicaccia), Sainte-Marie-Sicché (Santa Maria è Sichè)...

Our music, our songs are managed to survive since ancient times; they are, above all, our shepherds - poets and musicians - which have passed by only orality, our beliefs, our ancestral memory, our sentences, our hopes, our faith in God and life.

Singers, improvising, they have not left writings but always impressed the community to the point that it in kept lasting memories.
"Masters of art without age, millennial memory, these"vivid flame"shrines have always helped shape the soul of the people". (J.-J. Andreani).
Once, guitar and mandolin (later came from Italy) did not exist; it is sang, it is dance to the sound viulinu (violin), pirula (flute), so (zither), cialamedda ("flame") and caramusa (bagpipes).

Of course, for most, our polyphonic groups today use with happiness all kinds of musical instruments among the most advanced but the spirit of our land, its volcanic memory remained the same; all without zero exception, deserve our gratitude and respect.
